DivX Pro 6.1 Has Arrived


Our codec team has been working at full steam to bring you the latest, greatest DivX codec for Windows. The 6.1 codec features a new "High-performance" encoding mode that's perfect for live capture applications as well as quality improvements to the existing rapid-encoding modes. We're pretty excited about the new encoding modes, but the really exciting news with DivX 6.1 is all about performance. Thanks to the introduction of new optimizations for HyperThreaded, dual CPU (SMP) and dual core systems, we witnessed some truly startling performance improvements with this release. The DivX Pro 6.1 codec achieves up to 300% better encoding performance than the 6.0 codec when using the higher quality encoding modes on the latest PCs. Only have a single CPU? Don't worry - we haven't left you behind. DivX 6.1 is faster than 6.0 across the board. Even a modest single CPU system will run anywhere from 14 to 80% faster than the 6.0 codec depending on the quality mode selected. Don't know a CPU from C-3PO? Keep not worrying. You'll see performance enhancements whether you understand them or not.
